  • What’s New in Version 258.96
    - Added support for the GeForce GTX 460 GPU.
    - Added support for NVIDIA Surround technology–include 3D Vision Surround–which works with SLI and PhysX controls to combine multiple displays to act as one larger display, allowing a panoramic view of full‐screen games or your desktop.
    - Added support for GeForce GTX 400M series of notebook GPUs.
    - This driver package installs NVIDIA PhysX System Software v9.10.0224. NVIDIA PhysX acceleration is available on all GeForce 8‐series, 9‐series, 100‐series, 200‐series, and 400‐series GPUs with a minimum of 256MB dedicated graphics memory and a minimum of 32 processor cores.
    - This driver package installs the HD audio driver, version 1.0.15.0.
    - Driver version 258.96 will be the last driver to support Hybrid Power, a Hybrid SLI technology. Hybrid Power is supported on GeForce 9800 GX2 and GeForce 9800 GTX GPUs.

    Special Instructional Notes
    Help for Resizing Your HDTV Desktop
    After resizing the HDTV desktop, the new custom resolution created is now added to the list of available resolutions for that display, and also added to the resolution list within the game or application.
    In Release 190 and later drivers, the method for resizing the HDTV desktop has changed to provide better image quality when applying underscan. This method results in a new custom resolution being created which needs to be selected from games or applications to apply the resizing.
    In the example displayed in the following screen shot, the underscan has created a new resolution (1216x682). Although this resolution looks different, it is still in HD format.

  • About the NVIDIA Control Panel
    Welcome to the NVIDIA Control Panel, designed for Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. You can use NVIDIA Control Panel to control your NVIDIA hardware and access other NVIDIA software installed on your system.

    Overview
    In addition to setting up basic display configurations such as display resolution, refresh rate, and multiple display use, you can:
    - Tune your 3D settings with real‐time preview to maximize performance or image
    quality
    - Customize how 3D applications work in your system
    - Adjust your screen colors and contrast
    - Set custom timings
    - Control video image settings
    - Change your HDTV format
    - Control your notebook system power using PowerMizer
    - Control special workstation features such as Frame Synchronization.

    Feature Differences from the Classic Control Panel
    The following are features that were available in the NVIDIA classic control panel, but which are not available in the new NVIDIA Control Panel:
    - Creating/Importing Color Profiles
    - High Resolution Scalable Desktop
    - Video Zoom
    - Full‐screen video mirroring
    - Edge Blending
    - nView Desktop Manager - nView Desktop Manager is available through the Windows control panel as a separate applet (Windows XP only).
    - MultiView Display Mode (for NVIDIA Quadro NVS graphics cards) - As of driver Release 173, MultiView is available from the Windows Display Properties‐>Settings‐>Advanced tab for Windows XP only.
